Nothing matters more than knowledge!

Whilst Shaykh (حفظه الله) was explaining the importance of seeking knowledge, he said:

Nothing matters more than knowledge...more important than to attain knowledge is to implement it, and better than that also is to communicate it because Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه once went to the market and he told the people, 'You are here whilst the inheritance of Muhammad ﷺ is being divided at the mosque?! Go get your inheritance, your share!' The people they left, I'm talking about the merchants, the people in the market, they went to the mosque and then they returned back to Abu Hurayrah and told him, 'We found nothing there except people reciting the Qur'an and learning'. Abu Hurayrah said, 'What's the matter with you, what else did Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) leave behind him?!!...' He's right on that one.

- Shaykh Musa Jibril حفظه الله

Notes:

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) related that one day he passed by the marketplace of Al-Madinah, and stood there and said to the owners of the shops, "O people of the marketplace, what has rendered you incapable?" They replied, "What are you referring to, O Abu Hurayrah?" He said, "There is the inheritance of the prophet being distributed and you are here? Will you not go there and take your share of the inheritance?"

They said, "Where is it (being distributed)?"

He replied, "In the mosque."

So they (the people of the marketplace) raced out all together from the marketplace to the mosque to receive their share and Abu Hurayrah remained there waiting for their return. They came back looking disappointed.

Abu Hurayrah asked them what they saw in the mosque. They recounted that they saw a group engaged in Prayer (Salaah) and another busy in the recitation of the Qur'an and another group studying what is lawful (Halaal) and not lawful (Haraam). Then Abu Hurayrah said to them, "Woe unto you, for that is the inheritance of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم ."
