The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم one day came to Fatima رضي الله عنها and asked her, what do you think about mingling?
She replied,
separate the men from women! Segregation - there must be segregation!
There's a verse in the Qur'an, Allah says, If the men want to ask the women, then ask them from behind the veil!
Allah mentioned that before, so there is segregation and it should be there all the way until the Judgement Day.
A man and a woman should not meet together alone or Shaaytan is the third. Shaaytan is there! The Shaaytan will do his job and he will beautify the woman to the man and beautify the man to the woman causing an evil conclusion for both.
Allah said, ask them from behind a veil, not to mingle, that's good for the society. There will be no sickness or disease in this case. Otherwise the sickness of the desires will take over and it will aggravate it.
The reason for the screen/veil is that it is purer for your hearts. Purer for the men's hearts and purer for the women's hearts at the same time.
Islam is a prevention for all evil. An ounce of prevention is better than a kilo of cure.
